Vijay P. Khatri, professor in the Department of Surgery, has been named Editor-in-Chief of Surgical Oncology, an international academic medical journal.
Khatri, a surgical oncologist with the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, will lead the peer-reviewed journal, which has headquarters in England.
“It’s a great honor to be selected as editor-in-chief,” said Khatri. “Our goal is to really be a resource for community cancer centers, as well as academic centers. This is a great opportunity to lead a journal to the next level, to expand, and be innovative.”
Khatri is the author of a leading surgery textbook, “Atlas of Advanced Operative Surgery” and more than 85 journal articles. He has been on the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Annals of Surgical Oncology and is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the European Society of Surgical Oncology.
Khatri manages a broad spectrum of cancers, but his clinical interests are in rectal carcinoma and primary and metastatic liver cancer. He is also director of Faculty Development and Mentoring for the UC Davis Department of Surgery.
