New Patient Education and Orientation Meetings
If you have just been diagnosed with cancer, it is a difficult time. Our cancer specialists strongly recommend you attend one of our new patient meetings. We want to provide you and your loved ones with additional information to help you prepare for your first visit with your doctor and the beginning of treatment.
We will talk about cancer and how it is treated. Many factors influence which treatments may be offered; we will discuss how you can make the decisions that are right for you. We will offer suggestions on how to actively participate in your care and describe programs and services available at the Cancer Center and in the community. We'll also answer your questions and take a tour of the building.
The meetings will be led by John Linder, a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in working with cancer patients and their families. Separate meetings are offered for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients through a grant from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Please call (916) 734-5935 for further information about these sessions.
All meetings will be held in rooms 1101-1103 on the main floor of the Cancer Center, which is located at 4501 X St. in Sacramento. Parking is available in Parking Lot 4 next to the building. Reservations are encouraged, but you're welcome to attend without one. There is no cost. To RSVP or if you have questions, please call (916) 734-5935.
Our patients tell us...
"Thank you for being so informative and hopefully easing my sister's apprehension about her diagnosis."
"I had not expected the session to make me feel this much better. I know I'll sleep better tonight than I have since my diagnosis."
