“Successful Caregiving: Setting Realistic Goals and Expectations”

Guest Speaker: Marlene von Friederichs-Fitzwater, Ph.D.

Caring for a family member or friend who has a serious illness is not easy, and it is something most of us are not well prepared to do. It is a process that can happen suddenly or evolve over time. It can be around the clock, across the street, or across the country. No matter the circumstances, caregiving requires tremendous amounts of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energy. Dr. von Friederichs-Fitzwater, will discuss the essential “job skills” needed by caregivers and how to take care of your own needs while being attentive to their loved ones. She will also share resources designed to help caregivers sustain strength for caring.
