Leaders in reducing cancer disparities

A multidisplinary team of UC Davis Cancer Center researchers and outreach specialists are working together to eliminate ethnic and racial disparities in cancer region-wide.
Did you know that UC Davis Cancer Center researchers are investigating genetic markers of European and African ancestry among African Americans in the Sacramento area to more precisely identify populations with genetic predispositions to particular malignancies as a first step toward designing screening, chemopreventive and other strategies to reduce these risks? For further information, contact Ralph.deVere-White@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu.
Did you know that UC Davis Cancer Center faculty members conduct peer-reviewed cancer health disparities research reflective of the multi-ethnic composition of Sacramento's diverse racial/ethnic populations? Populations we work with include African Americans, American Indians and other Native populations, Asian Americans, Hispanics/Latinos and Slavics. Our sponsors include the American Cancer Society; California Breast Cancer Research Council; Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities/National Cancer Institute and the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities; and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. For further information, contact Gina.Dayton@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu or Toni.Poppe@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu.
