Graduate Level Social Work Training Program

The CAARE Center has a training program for graduate level social work students through California State University, Sacramento School of Social Work Program. We accept two second-year Masters of Social Work students each academic year beginning in July and ending in May. The interns work on a multidisciplinary team with pediatricians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and other professionals at the CAARE Center. The interns learn clinical and medical social work skills. The interns will have supervision from a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

The internship duties include:

  • Training on mandated child abuse reporting laws, legal and ethical issues of child abuse and neglect, cognitive behavioral therapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
  • Direct services to children and families, which includes providing individual, family, and group therapy, case management, case presentations and consultation.
