Child Abduction Examinations

  • This service is available 24/7 and is staffed by a CAARE Center pediatrician
  • Children receive a clearance exam within one hour of their arrival. A forensic evaluation for sexual abuse or physical abuse is performed if indicated based on history or physical findings
  • Patient discharge will include common prescription medications with written instructions when indicated, and any recommended medical follow-up necessary. Prescriptions will be given for other medications, as indicated
  • Children who are recovered following abduction by a parent or a stranger may be referred for a specialized exam by law enforcement, child abduction unit, or CPS. These children will receive a basic medical exam as well as specialized exams for sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect as indicated by the circumstances of the abduction.
