Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health

Immediate and Long Term Objectives of the Program

The long-term goals of the UC Davis Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health (BIRCWH) Program are to increase the coordination of research and education in women's health research, and expand and accelerate interdisciplinary research and training in women's health.  To achieve these goals we will:

  • Provide intensive, mentored research experiences in focused areas relevant to women's health for junior faculty in the clinical and basic sciences
  • Apply state-of-the-art integrative, cellular and molecular methodologies and analytical approaches to the study of women's health
  • Integrate fundamental studies with translational and clinical studies to promote a continuum in our understanding of women's health
  • Enable and promote exchange between Interdisciplinary Women's Health Research (IWHR) Scholars and outstanding faculty who can serve as role models
