Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Ladder Rank and/or In-Residence (Transplant Research)

 

The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis; School of Medicine seeks to recruit a full-time academic position at the rank of either Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Ladder Rank and/or In-Residence series depending on experience and qualifications. 

The selected candidate will be expected, to work in collaboration with clinical faculty and other researchers at UC Davis, to develop basic and translational research projects related to solid abdominal organ transplantation, including authoring and co-authoring grant submissions to the NIH and other extramural funding organizations.

The selected candidate must be able to demonstrate evidence of experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: human inflammatory processes, including ischemia-reperfusion injury; basic or translational science related to solid organ transplantation; regenerative medicine and/or stem cell based therapies; biomarker discovery and validation (genomic, proteomic, and/or metabolomic) and human cellular immunology.  Requirements for the position include an MD, PhD, or MPH in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or a related field.  The candidate must be able to present a history of collaboration with clinicians and other scientists.  This appointment is primarily a research and education appointment although the faculty member may be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching, research and university service depending on academic series.  All candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.  Salary and level of appointment will be based upon experience and qualifications.

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, In Residence/Clinical X or HSCP (Comprehensive Breast Surgeon)

The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis; School of Medicine seeks to recruit an outstanding Surgery Leader to lead our Comprehensive Breast Care Program within the UC Davis Cancer Center.  This will be a full-time academic position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the In-Residence, Clinical X, or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series depending on experience and qualifications.

The selected candidate will be the Chief of the Section of Breast Surgery and will work closely within the Division of Surgical Oncology and broadly within the UC Davis NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The successful candidate will have substantial opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and will be expected to leverage the strengths of UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center in translational research, including the development and implementation of clinical trials. The successful candidate will assume the role of leader of the Breast Program, spanning multiple departments within the UC Davis School of Medicine. Qualified candidates must have an excellent academic background with prior leadership experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams of investigators.

Required qualifications also include the completion of an approved Breast fellowship or Surgical Oncology fellowship. The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis, Health System located in Sacramento, California, seeks to hire one or more with a maximum of two, full time Academic Trauma Surgeon positions at the assistant, associate or full professor level in the Health Science Clinical, Clinical X, In-Residence or Regular series.  Exceptional candidates will be considered for Division Chief of Trauma & Emergency Surgery and Trauma Medical Director.

 

The selected candidate(s) will have responsibilities in this distinguished service, which includes trauma, general and subspecialty surgical services.  Duties include; teaching, both resident and fellow instruction, clinical care, both inpatient and outpatient, research related to trauma services and participation in the Trauma and Emergency Surgery team conferences. The selected candidate will be the Director of the Surgical Outcomes and Assessment Program that will work closely within the Department, and in related centers including the Center for Healthcare Policy and Research, the Clinical and Translational Sciences Center, and the Institute for Population Health Improvement, to advance scholarship and practice related to healthcare access, quality, costs, and delivery.  The successful candidate will have substantial opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and will be expected to leverage the strengths of UC Davis in comparative effectiveness, implementation science, and population health, as well as the surgery Department’s core surgical clinical trials data coordination center. 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate evidence of successful multidisciplinary funding, preferably NIH, AHRQ or other equivalent federal, peer-reviewed agencies.  Research focus may be in health services, clinical epidemiology, comparative effectiveness, or surgical outcomes.   Candidates must possess an MD, MPH or PhD.  Board certified candidates are required to obtain a California Medical License before the appointment start date and will be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching, research and university service depending on academic series.  All candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.  Salary and level of appointment will be based upon experience and qualifications.
