Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, ClinX/HSCP
The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology is recruiting a full-time academic position at the Assistant/ Associate/Full Professor Level in the Clinical X Series and/or HSCP Series, based on experience and qualifications. The selected candidate will be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching, research, and university service. Candidates must possess an MD or MD/PhD, be board-certified in dermatology and must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of California.
The Department of Dermatology (http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/dermatology) is a major clinical care, research, and teaching department in the School of Medicine. Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, ClinX/In Resicence (Dermatopathology)
The Departments of Dermatology and Pathology & Laboratory Medicine in the School of Medicine at the University of California, Davis seek candidates for a third full-time faculty member of the UC Davis Dermatopathology Service. The Service is currently covered by two full time faculty (Maxwell Fung MD, Director; Thomas Konia MD; www.ucdermpath.org). The Service’s caseload has increased every year since its inception in 2003. In FY11-12, the Service accessioned over 24,000 specimens, including original diagnosis, second opinions, and direct immunofluorescence.
The candidate must be Board Certified (BC) in Dermatology and/or Anatomic Pathology, and BE/BC in the subspecialty of dermatopathology. The candidate should be successfully appointed in the University of California Davis Clinical X series (clinician, educator, and scholarly publication; non-tenure; minimum 20% protected time) or In-Residence (clinician- scientist) series at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.
There are opportunities to practice dermatology or surgical pathology in addition to dermatopathology, as well as leadership opportunities within the Dermatopathology Service, depending on the candidate’s qualifications. The candidate will receive a joint appointment in Dermatology and Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, with primary appointment in one department.
Preferential consideration will be given to candidates who possess outstanding clinical, teaching, and scholarly potential and/or expertise in the area of diagnostic dermatopathology, as evidenced by one or more of the following:
1) Highly desirable: leadership or expertise in molecular dermatopathology
2) Highly desirable: leadership or expertise in the clinical practice of diagnostic dermatopathology in a referral/outreach based dermatopathology service
3) Leadership or expertise in immunohistochemistry, lab accreditation, practice management, teledermatopathology, and/or other areas relevant to an academic
dermatopathology service
4) Leadership or expertise in scholarly publication, with emphasis on original research clinically relevant to dermatopathology
5) Recognition of outstanding teaching in dermatopathology
Compensation is commensurate with academic rank and includes salary and incentive components.
