Assistant Professor, In Residence (Grant Funded Pain Researcher)

The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Division of Pain Medicine, is seeking to fill a faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in the In Residence series. The focus of this position is on researching the science of pain, sensory perception, neuro-imaging, experimental psychology, the mitigation of pain, and meditation and analgesia.

The Division of Pain Medicine is a multi-disciplinary program with extensive clinical care, teaching and research activities focused on the science of pain. The mission of the Division of Pain Medicine is to advance world-class pain care through; collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical care, exceptional training for the next generation of pain medicine specialists, educating primary care clinicians on pain medicine, innovative pain medicine research and integrative approaches, and compassionate public policy.

Applicants must possess an MD or PhD in medicine, medical research, psychology, or a related discipline. There must be an established record of independent and collaborative research on the science of pain.  Recent peer-reviewed publications, demonstrated experience in the design, conduct, and reporting of large-scale observational and/or experimental studies at the leadership level. Applicants must have experience in obtaining grant funding, including preparation of successful proposals. Specific experience in research on pain, and thorough knowledge and application of advanced methods for observational and experimental research, are highly desirable.

The position is open to both clinicians and non-clinicians. Preference will be given to candidates with strong written and verbal communication abilities. Candidates must have demonstrated the ability to work cooperatively and collegially in a diverse environment.

This position may, at times, require the incumbent to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present
