UC Davis Medical Center
4860 Y Street
Sacramento, CA 95817
This class can help you reduce your chances of developing lymphedema. Both surgery and radiation treatment on or near the lymphatic areas (armpits) contribute to risk of developing lym-phatic obstruction. Lymphatic obstruction is a blockage of the lymph vessels that drain fluid from tissues throughout the body and allow immune cells to travel where they are needed. Lymphatic obstruction may cause lymphedema, which means swelling due to a blockage of the lymph passages.
